Troop 1053 and Troop 7053 Adopt New Neckerchief
Troop 1053

The Athens 53 neckerchief is more than just a new piece of uniform; it’s the result of Scouts from Troops 1053 and 7053 coming together to create something shared. Through discussion, collaboration, and a troop-wide vote, Scouts from both units worked together to select a design that represents the full Athens 53 community. The final design, originally inspired by artwork from Eagle Scout Chase D. of Troop 1053, connects past and present while giving both troops a unified identity moving forward.
The colors were chosen with purpose and meaning. The Navy field represents trust, responsibility, and the strong foundation built through Scouting. The inner turquoise stripe reflects growth, learning, and the spirit of adventure, while the outer purple stripe represents leadership, respect, and service to others. Together, these elements create a design that reflects what it means to be a Scout, not just individually, but as part of a team.
In addition to the new design, Scouts had a choice in how they wear it. Some selected the traditional square neckerchief, while others chose the modern triangular style. The square neckerchief connects back to Scouting’s roots as a practical tool—useful for first aid, protection from the elements, and other real-world needs—while the triangular version offers a clean, modern look as part of the uniform.
What makes this especially meaningful is that it was built by the Scouts themselves. This wasn’t handed down. It was discussed, debated, and chosen as a group. The result is something that represents Athens 53 as a whole: shared identity, shared values, and a group of Scouts moving forward together.
